Animals and Animal Signs

We had a big day in 2J.  Katie VanDerLinden, BV County Naturalist, came to our school to show us all kinds of cool animals.  We saw snakes, turtles, and even a beautiful falcon!  See the animals in the pictures below.

Spar the Falcon.  Isn't he gorgeous?

After Katie's program, we went for a walk at the new Boardwalk on Little Storm Lake.  We saw evidence of animals (animal "signs"), some animals, and some other interesting things.  Your student will be bringing home a paper tonight with all of the the things we saw.  Their homework is to share it with you.  Check out the pictures below and have a discussion about animals and their needs with your child.

Evidence of a litterbug!

Even a dead rabbit is evidence!  Yuck!

Mr. Spider, we won't hurt you!

View from the tree house.  So pretty!

Mr. Wilson's class on the boardwalk.

Evidence of a bird.

Who left this footprint?

Did an animal chew on this tree bark?

We saw many spider webs.

Who had this leaf for lunch?

The students wondered if a sleeping deer made this grass lay down flat.

Do any animals live in here?

We couldn't believe we saw a bear, a flying fish, AND a walrus in Storm Lake!  How strange! :)

A nice neighbor let us tour her beautiful garden.  Thanks Barb!

Can you find an animal sign in this picture?
